This cinematic video stems from my series, "Flower of Life", a geometric pattern of intersecting circles. Here it becomes a ‘choreographed performance drawing’. Sitting still on an island in a stream as if pulling the sequence of black, abstract shapes from my body – seed, embryo, flower, butterfly - I ceremonially lay them in the snow. Slow-moving gestures are a metaphor for the fluidity of water and the passage of time. As the seasons change so does the form of the drawing and my attire from black to white against the snow. In an archetypal landscape, a ‘silent ritual drama’ of burial and the stages of grief expresses the deep connection to 'place' from one generation to the next.
